John was recently featured in Native American Art Magazine August/September issue as a part of their comprehensive look into the narrative surrounding ledger art, where he was named one of the "foremost living ledger artists."

Cowboys & Indians Magazine also featured John in their Creative Indigenous Collective, where artists featured are described as those that "create to lend a voice to their people. To counter stereotypical and romanticized portrayals of Native culture, they present Native artists' own unique perspective of their history and of contemporary society."
